Buddha Statue Knowledge Archive – Nandaka Vihara is an educational Buddhist art platform dedicated to the study, preservation, and appreciation of Buddha statues from different Buddhist traditions, historical periods, and artistic cultures.

This project was created to support a deeper understanding of:

• the historical development of Buddhist art,

• the evolution of Buddha image traditions,

• the symbolism and characteristics of different art styles,

• and the relationship between Buddhist culture, devotion, and craftsmanship across Asia.

The archive gradually documents Buddha statues and Buddhist art traditions from regions including:

• Gandhara

• Sri Lanka

• Thailand

• Myanmar

• China

• Korea

• Japan

• Khmer

• Malay World

• Java

• Nepal

• Bhutan

• and many others.

The collection includes references from museums, historical sources, temples, educational archives, and Buddhist communities for non-commercial educational purposes.

This website also documents the Buddha statues and related projects of Nandaka Vihara, including statues made from stone, wood, fiber, and bronze, as well as the ongoing development of the first Gandhara-style bronze Buddha statue project.
